The Head of State convened a high-level session at State House, Nairobi, with Principal Secretaries to prepare for the launch of the NYOTA business support programme. This initiative is designed to empower young people with the tools and resources they need to venture into business and grow sustainable enterprises. The session underscored the government’s strategic planning approach, ensuring that national programmes are effectively aligned with grassroots needs.

The nationwide rollout of NYOTA is set to begin on Monday, October 6, with a comprehensive awareness campaign. The programme will involve Governors, Members of Parliament (MPs), Members of County Assemblies (MCAs), chiefs, and the wider National Government Administrative Officers (NGAOs) framework. This inclusive engagement is meant to create synergy across all levels of leadership, ensuring smooth implementation and greater public ownership of the initiative.

At the heart of the programme is a powerful partnership between the Government of Kenya and the World Bank. Through this collaboration, the NYOTA programme will provide grants of KSh50,000 to 70 young people in each of the country’s 1,450 wards. This amounts to a total of KSh5 billion, directly benefitting 100,000 young Kenyans. By investing in entrepreneurship, the government seeks not only to create employment opportunities but also to stimulate local economies and foster innovation.

President Ruto’s leadership continues to focus on long-term solutions to youth unemployment and economic growth. The NYOTA business support programme is a testament to his unwavering commitment to transforming the lives of citizens through practical, well-structured initiatives. By empowering young entrepreneurs across the nation, the President is laying the foundation for a more resilient economy while ensuring that no Kenyan is left behind in the journey of national progress.
