Kenya is set to host the continent’s first-ever Africa Artificial Intelligence Conference (AIPAC 2025), an event that will bring together more than 1,500 global business leaders, policymakers, innovators, and scholars from August 25 to 28 in Mombasa. The four-day event marks a historic moment as the first continental gathering focused exclusively on Artificial Intelligence, firmly placing Kenya at the center of Africa’s AI transformation.
The event is not only a milestone for Kenya’s tech sector but also a catalyst for long-term socio-economic development. Strategically crafted to elevate the country’s role in shaping Africa’s digital future, AIPAC 2025 is expected to unlock capital, policy frameworks, talent pipelines, and research opportunities that will benefit Kenya far beyond the event itself.
According to Harun Katusya, Director and Chairman of the AIPAC 2025 Secretariat, the conference is more than just a forum for discussion. It is a decisive step toward aligning Africa’s AI ambitions with global trends, while opening new frontiers for innovation, investment, and inclusive growth. “AIPAC 2025 offers Kenya a unique opportunity for investor-startup matchmaking to drive capital investments into AI enterprises,” he stated. “This is a platform to shape Africa’s AI future and open global doors for Kenyan ingenuity.”
The conference will act as a springboard for Kenyan startups and tech entrepreneurs, who will engage directly with global venture capitalists and equity investors. Such engagements are expected to spark strategic partnerships and seed capital opportunities that could significantly scale Kenya’s AI ecosystem.
High-level dialogues among government leaders, industry experts, and academics will be central to the program. Delegates will work together to co-create national AI strategies, propose ethical governance frameworks, and develop talent development agreements across borders. These outcomes will not only support Kenya’s innovation sector but also help establish the country as a thought leader in responsible AI governance on the global stage.
Kenyan universities and research institutions stand to gain substantially by tapping into international research and development (R&D) opportunities during and after the event. Strengthened academic linkages, new collaborations, and knowledge exchange platforms will enhance Kenya’s capacity for innovation in emerging technologies like machine learning, generative AI, and data analytics.
AIPAC 2025 will spotlight practical AI solutions in key sectors such as EduTech, AgriTech, HealthTech, ClimaTech, GovTech, FinTech, TradeTech, and InduTech. These areas are directly aligned with Kenya’s development priorities, especially in agriculture, education, healthcare, climate resilience, and digital public services. By showcasing real-world applications, the event will provide a template for how AI can accelerate Kenya’s Vision 2030 and the broader African Union Agenda 2063.
AIPAC 2025 will serve as a foundational step in building a cohesive and future-ready digital policy environment for Kenya. Scholars and practitioners are expected to present actionable policy recommendations that support ethical AI development, promote local content creation, and foster inclusive access to AI-powered services.
The conference also aims to nurture Africa’s next generation of tech leaders. Through talent development initiatives and mentorship forums, young innovators from Kenya will have the opportunity to engage with international experts, gain exposure to frontier technologies, and collaborate on AI solutions tailored for African markets.
Crucially, AIPAC 2025 reinforces Kenya’s commitment to digital inclusion, sustainable development, and regional leadership in the Fourth Industrial Revolution. It provides a platform for the country to not only showcase its existing technological strengths but also to influence the direction of AI development across Africa.
The message from AIPAC’s organizers is clear: Africa’s AI journey begins in Kenya. That positioning is both strategic and symbolic. It affirms Kenya’s rising stature as a destination for digital investment, talent, and innovation, while signaling a bold step forward in securing the country’s place in the global digital economy.
As Kenya prepares to welcome delegates to Mombasa, the event represents more than just a technological milestone. It is a defining moment in Kenya’s transformation into a continental tech leader, with lasting implications for the economy, education, research, and the future of work.
