Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to accelerating development projects as a strategy to create jobs, improve service delivery, and transform the country’s economy. Speaking after inspecting the ongoing construction of the 60,000-seater Talanta Sports City along Ngong Road in Nairobi, Kindiki said the Kenya Kwanza administration is investing in large-scale infrastructure projects that are directly addressing youth unemployment while strengthening national development.

The Deputy President emphasized that, as the Principal Assistant to President William Ruto, he remains committed to ensuring government programmes are implemented efficiently and within the stipulated timelines. He noted that regular inspections of flagship projects are aimed at enhancing accountability, improving service delivery, and ensuring that Kenyans receive the full benefits of the government’s development agenda through quality infrastructure and expanded economic opportunities.

Kindiki praised the rapid progress of the Talanta Sports City project, describing it as a landmark investment that reflects Kenya’s growing ambition to become a regional sporting powerhouse ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). He noted that the state-of-the-art stadium is the first international-standard sports facility to be constructed in Kenya since the completion of Kasarani Stadium in 1987, marking a significant milestone in the country’s sports infrastructure development.

The Deputy President further revealed that the Talanta Sports City project is part of a wider national sports infrastructure programme, with 31 additional stadiums currently under construction across the country. He described the initiative as the most extensive sports development programme ever undertaken in Kenya, saying it will not only nurture sporting talent but also stimulate local economies, attract investment, and generate thousands of employment opportunities during and after construction.

Kindiki commended the thousands of workers involved in the project, applauding their dedication and contribution to nation-building through their skills and hard work. He noted that the government’s adoption of a 24-hour work schedule, coupled with close supervision by personnel from the Kenya Defence Forces, has significantly accelerated construction, ensuring the stadium remains on course for completion ahead of the continental football tournament.

The Deputy President also called on Kenyans to reject divisive politics and remain united in supporting the country’s development agenda. He cautioned against leaders who seek to divide citizens along tribal lines for political gain, stressing that Kenya is one united nation whose prosperity depends on peace, cohesion, and collective participation in development. Kindiki reaffirmed that the Kenya Kwanza administration will continue prioritizing projects that create jobs, improve livelihoods, and promote inclusive national growth for all Kenyans.
