Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has called on Kenyans to safeguard peace as a critical pillar for unlocking the country’s economic potential, warning that instability could erode hard-earned development gains. Speaking during the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the ACK Diocese of Nyahururu at ACK Kanyagia Parish on Palm Sunday, Mudavadi emphasized that peace is not just a social ideal but a fundamental economic asset.
Addressing congregants and leaders, Mudavadi challenged Kenyans to reflect on the intrinsic value of peace in driving national progress. He described peace as the ultimate enabler of prosperity, noting that without stability, economic initiatives and development efforts risk becoming futile. According to him, the foundation of any thriving economy is anchored on a secure and harmonious environment.
Mudavadi underscored that a stable country creates the right conditions for businesses to flourish, investments to grow, and jobs to be created. He pointed out that economic transformation is directly tied to the level of peace within a nation, as investors and entrepreneurs are more inclined to operate in predictable and secure environments.
Drawing comparisons with global trends, he noted that countries that have maintained long-term peace have succeeded in building resilient institutions and attracting foreign direct investment. He stressed that Kenya must safeguard its stability to remain competitive regionally and globally, particularly in an increasingly interconnected economic landscape.
At the same time, Mudavadi took aim at sections of the opposition, accusing them of promoting divisive politics instead of offering meaningful solutions to Kenyans. He criticized what he termed as a lack of a substantive agenda, warning that politics rooted in division threatens both national unity and economic progress.
He singled out tribalism as a persistent obstacle to cohesion, urging citizens to reject ethnic divisions and embrace a shared national identity. Using a relatable analogy, Mudavadi noted that in moments of crisis, such as medical emergencies, tribal considerations become irrelevant, reinforcing the need for unity and collective responsibility.
The Prime Cabinet Secretary also highlighted the importance of global cooperation in addressing shared challenges, including healthcare and economic inequalities. He argued that stability within nations creates a conducive environment for international partnerships that can deliver sustainable solutions and improve citizens’ wellbeing.
The Prime Cabinet Secretary reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to equitable development across all regions, noting that no part of the country will be left behind in the national transformation agenda. Musalia Mudavadi emphasized that under the leadership of William Ruto, the government is prioritizing inclusive growth through infrastructure development, improved healthcare, expanded economic opportunities and targeted investments to uplift communities. He assured residents that the administration remains focused on delivering tangible results, ensuring that regions like Nyandarua and others across the country benefit fairly from national resources and development programs aimed at improving livelihoods and fostering shared prosperity.
