President William Ruto has renewed his call for a national dialogue to develop Kenya’s long-term development agenda beyond Vision 2030, saying the country has reached a defining moment where all citizens should participate in shaping the nation’s future. He said the economic stability achieved by his administration has created the right environment for an inclusive conversation on Kenya’s next phase of growth.

Speaking at State House, Nairobi, President Ruto said the proposed dialogue should bring together Kenyans from all walks of life to collectively determine the country’s aspirations over the next 20 to 25 years. He stressed that the nation’s destiny should not be determined by the government alone, one political party, or a few individuals, but through a shared national vision developed by all citizens.

The President explained that the dialogue would build on the foundation laid by Vision 2030, the development blueprint introduced during former President Mwai Kibaki’s administration. While acknowledging the achievements recorded under the framework, Ruto said the time had come for Kenya to craft a new roadmap that reflects emerging opportunities, evolving global trends, and the country’s future ambitions.

Ruto said his administration had focused on restoring economic stability since taking office in 2022, arguing that the progress made now allows the country to shift its attention toward long-term transformation. He cited reforms in the economy, healthcare, affordable housing, and education as key pillars that have strengthened Kenya’s development foundation.

Highlighting economic gains, the President pointed to lower inflation, stronger foreign exchange reserves, a more stable Kenya shilling, and an improved capacity to meet external financial obligations. He said the country’s foreign exchange reserves have tripled compared to 2022, describing the achievements as evidence that Kenya is on a stronger economic footing.

The Head of State expressed confidence that Kenya can transition from a lower middle-income economy to an upper middle-income economy within the next decade before advancing to high-income status. He said sustained reforms, strategic investments, and national unity would enable the country to achieve faster economic growth and improved living standards for its citizens.

President Ruto also reiterated his broader ambition of transforming Kenya into a first-world economy within the next two decades. He argued that the progress made over the past four years demonstrates that such a transformation is achievable, provided the country remains focused on long-term planning, economic discipline, and inclusive development.

The President concluded by urging Kenyans to unite behind a common national vision, saying the country possesses sufficient resources to eliminate poverty, create employment opportunities, and achieve lasting food security. He called on citizens to embrace the proposed national dialogue as a platform to define Kenya’s future and secure sustainable prosperity for generations to come.
