Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to supporting President William Ruto in delivering transformative development projects across the country, as he embarked on an extensive working tour of Tharaka Nithi County. The Deputy President, who has emerged as a key figure in coordinating and supervising the implementation of the government’s development agenda, inspected ongoing infrastructure projects and announced fresh investments targeting roads, electricity, modern markets, water supply and healthcare services. Kindiki emphasised that the Kenya Kwanza administration remains determined to ensure equitable distribution of national resources and accelerate socio-economic transformation in every region, in line with President Ruto’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
A major highlight of the development tour was the government’s commitment to invest Sh35 billion in upgrading and tarmacking roads across Tharaka Nithi County, a move expected to significantly improve transport connectivity and stimulate economic activities. Kindiki announced that Sh6 billion had been released for the construction of an additional 90 kilometres of tarmac roads in Tharaka Constituency, while assuring residents that stalled road projects would be revived and completed. He directed contractors to undertake simultaneous construction from the Marimanti and Mukuuni ends to accelerate implementation and ensure timely delivery. The Deputy President stressed that improved road infrastructure would open up remote agricultural areas, reduce transportation costs, facilitate access to markets and create employment opportunities for thousands of young people.
Beyond road construction, Kindiki underscored the government’s determination to expand electricity connectivity and modernise trading infrastructure as part of President Ruto’s broader economic empowerment programme. During the tour, he launched rural electrification initiatives targeting households, trading centres and underserved communities, noting that reliable electricity is essential for stimulating entrepreneurship, supporting small businesses and attracting investment. He also inspected and highlighted plans for modern markets intended to provide farmers, traders and small-scale entrepreneurs with secure, hygienic and organised trading environments. The Deputy President observed that improved market infrastructure would strengthen agricultural value chains, reduce post-harvest losses and enhance household incomes, particularly among farmers and micro, small and medium enterprises.

The Deputy President further inspected water and healthcare development initiatives aimed at improving access to essential services and enhancing the quality of life for residents. He reiterated the government’s commitment to expanding clean water supply for domestic consumption, livestock and irrigation, recognising the critical role of reliable water infrastructure in strengthening food security and agricultural productivity. Kindiki also emphasised the importance of upgrading healthcare facilities to bring quality and affordable medical services closer to communities. He noted that these investments form part of President Ruto’s integrated development strategy, which seeks to address longstanding infrastructure gaps while empowering rural communities to participate more effectively in the national economy.
Accompanied by Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki, Members of Parliament, county leaders and other elected representatives, Kindiki emphasised the importance of cooperation between national and county governments in accelerating project implementation. Local leaders welcomed the development commitments, observing that improved road networks linking Tharaka Nithi to neighbouring counties would strengthen regional trade, promote agricultural commercialisation and unlock new investment opportunities across Mount Kenya East. The Deputy President reiterated his determination to work closely with President Ruto, Cabinet Secretaries and other government agencies to ensure that development projects are adequately funded, effectively supervised and completed within the stipulated timelines. He maintained that his responsibility as the President’s principal assistant includes ensuring that government policies and development commitments translate into tangible improvements in the lives of ordinary Kenyans.
Addressing enthusiastic residents during public engagements across the county, Kindiki called for political unity, national cohesion and a renewed focus on development rather than divisive political competition. He assured residents that President Ruto’s administration remains firmly committed to fulfilling its promises through sustained investments in infrastructure, agriculture, affordable housing, electricity, healthcare and economic empowerment programmes. The Deputy President stressed that government leaders must be judged by their ability to deliver measurable results, create jobs and improve livelihoods rather than engage in endless political rhetoric. His Tharaka Nithi development tour reinforced his dedication to complementing President Ruto’s leadership by coordinating, monitoring and accelerating the implementation of transformative projects across Kenya, with the ultimate objective of building a more prosperous, inclusive and economically empowered nation.
